Mr. Hawkins graduated cum laude from St. John Fisher College with a B.A. in Political Science and Legal Studies. Prior to law school, he interned with two New York law firms which focused their practice on wills and estates, criminal law, family law, and personal injury. He received his law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law. During his time at the University of Richmond, he interned for a bankruptcy firm which specialized in consumer bankruptcies. In addition, he interned for the Honorable Frank W. Volk, Chief United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of West Virginia and current nominee for United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.
Following his graduation from law school, Mr. Hawkins was a Tax Policy Analyst for the Virginia Department of Taxation. During his time there, he conducted extensive research of Virginia tax laws and regulations and reviewed Department audits in order to resolve taxpayer appeals, ruling requests, and offers in compromise. He is a member of the Business Law, Tax Law, and Trusts and Estates Law Sections of the Virginia State Bar.
